‘Chemman’ means ‘Red Soil’.

It symbolises the physical aspects of the earth (texture, colour, etc.) and human and ethical values of the local people (sincerity, truth-seeking, family bonding, independence, hard-work, determination, etc.).

It indicates the human and material resources available in the area: the people, their land, the use of traditional technology for labour, and the cultural resources for celebration.

It also stands for the people’s passionate dream to develop their land, ecology and social environment.

It symbolizes the people’s identity, their need for change, their desire for transformation, and the process of immersion into the soil and integration with nature as prerequisites for progress.

Hence, CHEMMAN has come up as a resourceful centre to cater to the urgent needs of the youth in these two districts. As such, it is:
