Strategies

  1. Capacitation: Capacitating the youth with information, knowledge and multiple skills through multi-faceted training programs, workshops, seminars, exposure programs, field visits, study tours, performance appraisal, innovative projects, lab experiments, incubation techniques, etc.
  2. Experimental ventures: Conducting field level experiments and model projects as in the case of agriculture, environment, business ventures, etc.
  3. Research projects: Launching research projects aimed at knowledge building, impact assessment, policy formulation and changes, information and ideas dissemination, creating public opinion, etc.
  4. Issue-interventions: Making policy advocacy interventions in critical areas, as for example, projects and plans dealing with skills capacitation of youth, government budget allocation for capacitating youth for employability and entrepreneurship, vocational plan for youth, etc.
  5. Networking: Networking with expert individuals and reputed institutions aiming at collaborative ventures, joint projects, collective issue-based interventions, etc.
  6. Social advocacy: Engaging in social advocacy with academia, state institutions, civil society actors and the larger public for proposing policy changes which aim at benefitting targeted groups as well as the public at large.
  7. Media advocacy: Networking with both the print (dailies, weeklies, fortnightlies, monthlies, etc.) and electronic media not only for providing information on the programs conducted or events organized but also, more importantly, for campaign purposes – to disseminate information and to create public opinion on issues and policies; in this respect, the use of the regional language media, both print and electronic, assumes importance.
  8. Academic platforms: Organizing conferences, workshops and seminars for promoting research and publications, advancing social policies and projects, etc.
  9. Human resources: Pooling human resources of professionals and experts from the two districts and from elsewhere in order to enhance the capabilities and resourcefulness of the youth.
  10. Knowledge resource base: Building knowledge resource base through establishing library, documentation, etc.
  11. Financial resources: Generating financial resources at local and international level for purposes of enhancing infrastructural facilities of the institute, providing scholarships for the youth trainees, maintenance and sustainability of the institute.
